Designing transformer - Winding inductance

Hello,

We want to design a transformer to convert 230V, 50Hz into 12Vdc, 500mA. What value should have primary and secondary winding inductance? How can I calculate it?

If you are talking about a dc transformer you first need to select a core for your transmitted power, then you calculate number of turns needed on primary winding to reduce magnetizinf flux and prevent core saturation. Once you have calculated that, you decide your turns ratio and then wind the secondary winding. The inductance you obtain will be an appropiate one.
