Flyback inductor or transformer?
Hello everyone! Is the flyback an inductor or just act as one? I understand the flyback as a special type of transformer, but it store energy as an inductor, so why is it called “flyback transformer”?

Hi! Well a flyback transformer is a coupled inductor with a gapped core, this means they have a gapped-core construction, so the storage the energy without saturating. This functionality is what difference flyback from another topologies. It is a transformer that works as an inductor.
